Does anyone have experience in shipping cars overseas?

My cousin got a job transfer. He has a home in Texas and his job took him to Lebanon.(How ironic he is Lebanese). He just purchased 2 new cars. One being a Maserati and the other was a new Mercedes SUV. I dont remember the models thoue. He does not want to get rid of them but he has no room at his home in Texas due his other cars.So now he needs ship them overseas to the new house. Does anyone here do anything relating to this? Do they need to meet some laws or anything?

Reach out to the Lebanese Embassy in DC. They might also have a Consulate nearer to you (or him). They would be able to put you on the right track for what has to be done to import a vehicle and make it legal for use.

My only knowledge is shipping a motorcoach the size of mine from Baltimore, MD - Belgium. Cost was $5K. Today, I would probably ship from Houston or Savannah, GA - Barcelona, Spain.

Tell him to look around a lot of company's do it.

But first as said above I'd talk to the Lebanese government to see what legalities are involved.

Shipping prices are down substantially due to the worldwide recession. There are quite a few people who have shipped vehicles who post over at Expedition Portal. I'd go over there and do a search on shipping. I know people often ship from Baltimore to Rotterdam. It would be a nice drive from Rotterdam to Beirut.
