W124 Factory Leather Interior colours?

Was wanting to know whether the 300E came out with black leather interior from factory? My car has factory red exterior paint. Impact red I think? When I recently purchased it it had black leather with grey roof-lining & only the lacquered timber centre console parts. All else is black. Can anyone fill me in pls?

Thanks!

The early cars only had wood on the center console.

My '87 300D 3.0 with Medium red interior has a grey headliner and my '92 300D 2.5 with grey interior has a grey headliner as well.

Are you sure it is leather, not MB tex? often confused.

Thanks for reply DieselPaul but, yes, the seats are black leather with vinyl door trims & plastic dash etc. Centre console is lacquered timber. What I was asking is did the 300E's come out with black interior or not? Mine is an 87' model btw.

Cheers

According to the EPC, black leather was a factory option on the W124 in 1987, at least in North America.

thankyou Cal Learner. I just have never seen any here in Australia. Only sky blue, tan or bone

The headliner is usually light grey.

Only time I've seen another color was when the interior was a light tan color, such as palomino or creme beige, then the headliner matched the interior.

Our 95 E320 wagon has a black interior, and the headliner is grey.

That was what I was driving at. I read the OP as, saying since the car has a grey headliner, maybe the car didn't always have black interior, but the other two colored interiors I have both have grey headliners.

As Jim stated, the headliner was color matched only on the Light tan (mushroom) and Dark tan (palomino) interiors.
