Volvo bought by Chinese automaker Geely

Ford just sold Volvo to Chinese car maker Geely. Well GM killed SAAB so here goes another sensible Swedish car maker down the drain (That's my prediction) Keep in mind that this is the same company that built this car....

Volvo hasn't been the same in the last 10 years. RIP Volvo.

Hatterasguy 03-28-2010 03:57 PM

Meh, I always thought Volvo's were kind of cheap anyway.

Volvo died when ford bought them, this is probably a step up.

Look for Volvo's crash worthiness to approach that of an empty beer can from here on out.

Insult to Aluminum Beer Cans Worldwide

'Probably much safer in a 2012 Coca Cola can than a '12 ChiCom Volvo.

Listen up young man, my wife and oldest son was in a bad wreck in 1995. They was in a head on collision with a full sized Truck. The Police officer that met me at the hospital said that if your Wife and Son was driving anything else except for a Volvo, that I would be identifying them in the morgue. Our 1986 Volvo 240D Wagon saved my wife and my oldest son. BTW the Volvo after the wreck still had all four wheels on the ground. And the full sized Ford truck had to be towed away because it wasn't road worthy.

Could've been worse, they could have sold them to Fiat.

Seriously, when you get the chance, check out Fiat's plans for Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge. What'll be left is an outright joke. Jeeps that will no longer be "trail rated" and built on Fiat platforms, glorified mall cruisers? What's the point of even keeping the brand alive?

I saw a similer accident with a Subaru, some cars make out pretty well. An early 90's Chevy 1500 decided to turn at an intersection in from a Subaru wagon. The Chevy made out pretty bad, and the driver was hurt, the occupants of the Subaru were fine.

I still don't care for them. I drove a late model XC90 the other day and it was pretty lame. Probably safe in a crash but so is a BMW, Lexus, or MB.

To make money by trading in on the magical name, just like Mercedes
