Right click on your desktop, click "Properties" , go over to the "Settings"tab , click "advanced", find Monitor Resolution, and make sure that tab is set to the highest refresh rate possible.

The flicker you are seeing is just a low refresh rate. Try setting it as high as you can.

Start by checking your display settings. For an LCD monitor, you should set it to its native resolution. It should also be set to 60Hz in most cases (screen refresh rate under Windows). Check your brightness settings as well and you could also try resetting your monitor to its factory defaults. At 6 yrs old, if it has had a lot of use, the backlight could be flickering at less than default values. Just a guess...

Wouldn't hurt to check/update your drivers as well.

Good luck!

Also, double check your cable. I run my LCD with a DMI cable, and if it is loose or anything, I start getting what looks like dead pixels and flickering.

That graph is my guide to writing papers. I actually wrote a job application cover letter last night after 4 glasses of wine. On second thought, perhaps I should have reread it this morning before submitting it

you will probably find that the beginning is OK, the middle rocks house, and the summary sucks....if the graph is right....

I put a fix up (sorta), no real details.

Basically several of the Capatictors in the Power Supply fail.

You can order them on-line and replace them
Not am easy job, but rewarding.

BUT, my monitors had FAILED that is they did not work.
In fact for a few weeks before, they work not come out of sleep for a long time, until they just did not come out at all.

99% ... your monitor is about to die.

Recently I just picked up a 17" flat screen for a friend from fleabay, used
and it was $46 delivered.

Check your connections.

My work bought some cheap flatpanels where the connections suck. If you touch the connection on the computer, the screen flickers and gets brighter and darker. We ordered 100 flat panels and about 70 of the monitors do this.
