Can I sell R12 freon legally?

I have 3 old cans of r12 I was going to put on craigslist...do i have to do anything to sell this stuff legally? Does the buyer have to sign something? ...Or should just throw it in the trash?

If you want to cover yourself, request their Section 609 Certification number.

Technically, it's supposed to be sold to a licensed A/C technician. Some sellers ask for the buyer's certification no. and some just ask for a written statement to the affect that the buyer is qualified to buy. That's mostly on eBay. CL is more like the alley down the street from the bay.

It is hazardous waste so please don't just dump it. Most counties in the US have some form of household hazardous waste program which will take it and dispose of it properly.

How much do you want for it? I wouldn't mind having some back up R12.

Hey Mr. Kenny, I will give you a case of beer for each can. I will then trade them to Chad for some of his famous Chicken Wings, do we have a deal?
