What were the old MB slogans?

I hear more and more about the poor quality of these newer models and I think the current slogan "Unlike any other car..." is appropriate considering the elevated quality of competition.

What were the old sales slogans? I remember one was "Engineered like no other car....". I guess that was when MB still had engineers.

The new slogan "Unlike no other car..." probably means it was engineered without engineers.

"Die Zukunft des Automobils (The future of the car)
"Ihr guter Stern auf allen StraBen" (Your good star on every street)
"Wir wollen alle Ihr Geld" (We want all your money)

July, 1961....

MOST TREASURED TROPHY IN THE TROVE.

This star is a pledge of quality in every Mercedes-Benz that has no parallel. It is your most treasured trophy on any road.

I've got an ad out of a magazine from 12/79 for the 1980 model line. The tag line is the "Engineered like no other car in the world" but the "title" is "Why choose a Diesel from a line of cars when you can choose a Mercedes-Benz from a line of Diesels?" followed by "For 1980 Mercedes-Benz makes three different sedans, a station wagon, a coupe, three engines and two transmissions. And offers 44 years of Diesel experience."

Pretty cool!

I don't think their brochures brag about anything like this anymore. Then again, Mercedes buyers nowadays could probably care less.

I think the 'diesel' ad SwampYankee refered to was in response to GM's diesel cars that were getting very good reviews at the time and of course cost less than a Mercedes.

About three years later the problems with GM's converted gas engines began to show up and they were gone. Peaguot was still selling them and VW had the diesel Rabbit; even Nissan had a Maxima out with one and then so did Volvo.

But when was the last time you saw one of those?
