I would think that it has the exact same towing capacity as a normal W163. Whether or not that is enough for a loaded car trailer though I do not know.

Depends on the trailer and the weight of the car on it and the roads you're gonna use. Would the trailer have brakes?
What does Benz have to say about it?

Just looked it up. 5,000 pounds for a regular ML320. ML55 should be the same.

5000 pounds on ML55 as well. About the same weight as a standard trailer and LWB V8 W126. You'd think it could do better.

Trying to gauge alternatives to the Sierra Denali, and this little gem popped up.

Whats more from what I've heard the ML55 wasn't exactly AMG's best effort. Just looking at it shows that they didn't do much in it's creation (Compare it to the W164 ML63 AMG and you'll see what I mean)

I would stay away from it. My sister has a 2001 ML500 with the same amount of mileage, costing her a little fortune to keep it on the road. Don't think a ML55 would do any better. And to be honest they drive like ****. The good thing is it was a present from her father in law.

If mb says it will pull a certain weight I would not hesitate, but I would keep an eye on engine temp and oil pressure. If heat goes up and op goes down you may be overheating the tranny.

It's true about the ride quality of those SUV's...my aunt has owned a 2003 ML500 since new, and the ride quality and handling is utterly atrocious. IMO, of course...it lurches and bounces ALL over the place. Not a fun long trip car...it's got a LOT of power though, I must say.

Eh. I drove and ML with air suspension and liked it very much. By comparison I found the normal coil spring model to be bouncy.
