Has anyone used this sealant product?!
This one: http://secure.loyola.com/froth-pakandreg180sealantkit.aspx
... or related?! After recent Energy Audit in our home, it looks like we've got some sealing to do up in the attic... the quote from the vendor to seal the whole attic and blow in more insulation was over $2500! So, I'm looking at options trying to figure out if I can do this myself and save some money.... If there are other similar products that work well I'd like to hear about 'em too. THanks, James

Attics shouldn't be sealed; air circulation from the outside is neccessary to prevent condensation.
Rolls of unfaced rockwool insulation can be bought and layed down in the attic by any just about anyone. Be careful not to block the vents in the eaves or soffitt. |

I need to seal those cracks and spray-on expanding foam is the best thing for it (that I know of).

Still doesn't sound right don't you have drywall or plaster ceiling.
Try for batts laid criss cross, one layer (or blown in) inside the joists the second perpendicular across the tops of the joists. as stated earlier don't close up the soffits.

Once the blower door is hooked up there is a slight vacuum created in the house, which allows discovery of all the leaks from outside in (sort of reverse of what actually happens). The thermo-imaging camera then shows the cold spots in the areas where the cold air drifts downward or inwards from outside in... the areas in the closets and around the door jambs (even on the inner walls) all were leaky... one sure way to seal those is to apply a foam - like Great Stuff you find in Home Depot for $6 - trouble is that you'd need a big box of those cans and it would cover about half of the attic... if that. This stuff in the link is industrial grade bulk product - I spoke to the sales rep and he said all the right things about it, but I wanted to see if anyone else has used it. Not to worry about the soffits - they are plenty drafty and no plans of changing that.
