SsangYong Chairman H
I've just been informed by my Asian car expert that the W124 chassis is still in production. It's common place for many of these companies to purchase the tooling for vehicles when they are replaced.

They have been making a copy of the 60x diesel motor for a while. Bosch now have oil & fuel filters made in Korea for them. They dont even bother listing the Mercedes applications.

Most US car companies did this with their tooling after a model run. They sent the tooling to South American countries and built cars there.
I remember seeing brand new Willys autos from 1952 in 1980. Need a part for a 1968 Dodge Charger? They were still being built 15 years later in, I think, Bolivia. I can't say if this still goes on, but it only makes sense to get as much use out of your tooling as possible. My favorite is the 1948 Jeepster. Made for about four years they started coming back in the early 1960's as Beach Buggies. AMC still had the tooling, so they just started producing them again! |

This company once sold cars here through General Motors. Daewoo also had dealerships of its' own for a few years.
By the way, Daewoo is pronounced in English as Day-oh. Both vowels are long. They also build machine guns. |

Before they ever came close to making cars, I had a Daewoo TV. What a piece.
