Lowes Rebate? Be carefull
I had purchased some paint and was told at checkout it qualified for a $20 rebate. Wonderfull, the following Monday I completed the forms and stuck it in the Mail.
Less than 10 days later I get an envelope from Lowes and having sent off for rebates before this would be to quick on my $20. The envelope was stamped with all sorts of advertising and "Special Offer Inside" and "Apply for your Lowes Line of Credit Today and save $$". It almost went to the shredder - but I cracked it open and yes there was a coupon for 10% off another purchase and information on obtaining Lowes CC and yest tucked away amongst all the debris was the $20 rebate check. How do you feel about this? Do you think they are purposely sending out prompt rebates and then adding some advertising to the envelope hoping you will just toss it with the check for $$. Suspicious.

I worked at Lowes for a year during college, they are the scam-masters. Beware.
Lots of rebate companies do this. I just got a rebate for a computer part I bought and it wad disguised as a credit card offer from citi bank. Almost threw it away, but opened it to see if it had a postage pre-paid envelope I could stuff it all into and send back to them.  Lowes, I could go on for hours about all the shady things they do.

Internet companies including ATT seem to be the king of 'shaft the consumer' with rebates.
Of course its all 3rd party so the prime company claims no responsibility.
