Amidst disaster. Still time for humor. RentBoy.com & the Minister....

I've had too much time on my hands since I've been lying here sick the last few days with the stomach bug from hell.

I guess lucky for him, there are plenty of other disastrous events to keep him from the headlines. Maybe he'll get lucky and it will all quietly go away. Every time one of these *******s comes to the front, whether they're preaching anti-gay bull**** or family values, I just remember my dad saying :"Beware of self-proclaimed righteous people."

"George Alan Rekers, who co-founded the Family Research Council with James Dobson and is one of the nation’s leading anti-gay activists, has been outed by the alternative weekly newspaper Miami NewTimes.

Rekers, a Baptist minister who’s considered a top scholar for the Christian right, hired a gay escort from RentBoy.com to accompany him on a recent trip to Europe, NewTimes has confirmed. Rekers is currently a board member for the National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH), a prominent “ex-gay” organization. (Physician heal thy self)

When confronted with the information, Rekers told NewTimes that he hired the escort to help him carry his luggage because he recently had surgery:"

As long as he had a good reason, I'm good. Maybe tonight I will hire a stripper/hooker to scratch my back.

Do gay people know who is gay and who isn't? Did anybody know this guy was gay? Surely his partners did.

Talking to some of them, they kinda know from certain clues they drop or their mannerisms.

Besides, we don't know for sure that this guy is gay. For all you know, he could be bisexual and drive on both sides of the road.

What a great outing. And how stupid of Mr. Rekers. I'm sure Ted Haggard would have been happy to carry his bags for free.

Kuan 05-05-2010 05:02 PM

Ted Haggard is cured.

I only wrote that he would carry his bags. Teddy used to frequent the gay leather shop around the corner from my house. I feel downright close to him.

Well you'd be surprised how good some of the "Down-Low" guys are about keeping it "down-low." This guy, Larry Craig and the likes didn't just have the one instance in their lives that "outed" them. They've been doing it for decades. I'd say the signs were probably there - middle-aged plus, never married or single (this can apply to men and women). But then again, some in the 40+ age group even went so far as to get married and even have kids.

I know one guy that is 64. He came out at 50, previously married and a daughter in her mid-twenties. A woman I go to school with asked me to lunch one day to discuss her situation. Late 50's and divorced after 28 years of marriage and two kids. He just left. Turns out a year later, she finds out he was gay. She had "no clue" but after a few questions on my part, she recalls the "walks around the lake after dinner with 'Bob' that lasted 'til after dark'." Also the occasional finding of, for lack of a better word, "feminine-brand" cigarettes in his car: "I'm an indiscriminate smoker, honey. I don't care what brand they are. I just grab the closest ones on the counter."

Then there's a guy like me. By no means a feminine or "fabulous" guy. Worked with cars in some form most of my life. Not a sharp dresser on a regular basis but certainly clean up VERY well. Started to come to terms with myself ten years ago at 33. Met my current partner a year later and told my friends & family (only my sister really) that we were "roommates." Three years in, he couldn't deal with my insecurities & fears so he left. Admittedly I cracked. I let the best thing that ever happened to me, walk out. The first person I told was my best friend of now 23 years: "Greg, 'Rob' and I are more than roommates." "Duh, no **** *******. We've all known since the first time we saw you two together and were just waiting for YOU to be comfortable enough to say something to us." I'm still god father to their two kids and we're still closer than I am with my own brother (had nothing to do with this) whom I have not seen nor spoken to in 20 years. "Paula" and I are still best friends after knowing each other for 25 years and even having been "romantically involved" for about 18 months in the mid-nineties.

A current neighbor told me a year ago that she had no clue about me & my partner until that point - which was about a year here. " Seeing you two makes me wonder how many people I know or met, guy or girl, that ARE gay." Meaning that we don't fit the neat little stereotype of being "fabulous" and partiers. As Joe Walsh said, just an "ordinary average guy."

You all probably know or are related to someone like this - male or female.. ;)

Jeeezuz. That Rekers character is a Professor of Neuropsychiatry at the University of South Carolina.

I thought in order to be a psychiatrist you first had to be a medical doctor. He's a psychologist, not a psychiatrist.

I just label them a bunch of mindfawks and consider them slightly more reliable than Voodoo. While the gathering of data is scientific, their implementation is all subjective. Simple case. Woman gives her 3 kids a rock party because God said to do that. Well, prosecutors hired 2 mindfawks to say she is sane and defense hires 2 mindfawks to say she is insane. I'll bet that bunch of crap will be used a whole lot less if people didn't give the user any mitigation. Remember Michael Fay? He tried the Classic American Defense. Singapore didn't budge and whipped him. Gave him 2 strokes less because Bill Clinton begged them to and they had to give him a little "face". When he came back, did he get the "help" he said he needed? Nope. Almost blew up the face from freebasing cocaine.

You'll be doing God's work, son. And an awful lot of hookers.

Are you mocking me? Here people have accused me of not caring for people and when I try to, this is what I get? I want to help them brother. They must repent or they will never be saved. I have seen the light. For too long have we neglected these poor souls. Oh, WTF, who am I kidding. I can't even keep a straight face as I type this. :D:D

I think Prof. Rekers is going to have a hard time keeping a straight face anymore.

I would imagine it is hard for a man to keep a straight face with a pearl necklace on him while he is scolding others for being gay.
