Thumbs up Russians capture and release Somali pirates

This is from an article in the Chicago Tribune.

A Russian freighter was captured by Somalian pirates, a Russian warship brought in Special forces that recaptured the ship and the pirates.
The crew was safe hiding in a safe room.

The Russians released the pirates, in their small craft without navigational devices.
Their report is the craft disappeared from radar, the pirates are presumed dead.

The Russians were unsure how to handle the pirates under international law and did not even want to feed them.

Gotta Love them Ruskies !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably, here's the story in Trib on-line.
A bit more detail in here than the paper version I saw.

Medvedev:

"Until then, we'll have to do what our forefathers did when they met the pirates," he said.

"Why should we feed them" indeed!

I love it.

If more country's grew balls and did this we wouldn't have such a pirate problem.

Heck this is what we are supposed to have the Marines for.

He did not give specifics of the pirates' release, but the official news agency ITAR-Tass quoted a ministry source as saying they were "sent home," unarmed and without navigational devices, in the small boats they had used to approach the tanker.
Sent home how? Point to an obscure area and say "That a way, Mr Sulu."?

Not a whole lot of details it seems. Sent home my a$$. I suspect they were used as target practice and their new "residence" is Davy Jones Locker.

I'll bet they are with Luca Brasi. The lot of them "Sleeping with the Fishes" already. Maybe send their families their shirts with a fish wrapped inside.

The cure for piracy is a neck stretch!

We need frigates with wooden masts and yard arms!

This drives me nuts. We always try to wrap our rights around people like this, they have no rights.

If they had kept them, the cost of trial etc would have been massive. Its good to see the Russians providing a little shark food. Maybe there was a device with a long fuse in the boat that the pirates left in.

Guess the pirates were "recycled" into shark food and later fertilizer. Trash removed. It's all good.
