Anyone else graduating from high school this year?

A little weird. I won't be seeing many of the kids I've been going to school with for the past 12 years. I'm so ready to be done, though. w00t

Wow! Nope. Not high school. But congratulations! I just went through my first year of college. So I graduated last year. I guess it was kinda sad to think that I wouldn't be seeing a lot of the same people again, but a lot of them go to the same college as me, so I see a few often enough, and the friends that I had...who were truly my real friends, we catch up. E-mail, facebook, IM, hang out when we can. So it's not that bad. Plus, college is AWESOME! New friends and such.

Congratulations again! What are you doing after high school? Are you going to college or something else? I recommend college! ^_^ It's fun. Particularly if you live on campus away from the parents. Haha.

yeah, I'm going to Rensselaer Polytech, which is about 3 and a half hours from home. A good distance I think. Far enough not to be pestered, but close enough that I can go home for the weekend if I wanted to, which I'm bound to do because I'm not sure how much work i can do on campus and/or how many tools I'll be able to bring. Only one other person from my school is going there, and I don't know her that well at all. I think I'll be all right, though.

Yup! Good distance! Plus you can save a bit of money on doing laundry at home. Hahaha. For me, if I go home I get LESS work done...because most of my stuff (games and such) and sometimes friends (who are closeby) are around, and I get distracted by hanging out with old friends and playing video games...so I actually get more work done at school! Hahaha.

Well I warn you now, you may not see that one girl you know. You might...but unless she has one of the same classes as you, you probably won't. But don't worry! College is (I think) a pretty easy place to make friends. It's gonna be awesome. I think you'll enjoy it! I hope you do. Make the most of it! Good luck!

Maybe its just me, but I didn't miss many people from high school. Maybe 3 or 4, a handful of people I'd hang out with regularly. But people will move on with their lives and make new friends, just a part of life. In fact the best part of college is the new friendships and all the new tail to chase, especially if you are gonna be at a dorm.

I graduated from HS over SIX years ago. College over 2 years ago....scary.

I don't miss a single person from HS, the last day I whooshed out to my car and roared away, that was an awesome day!

No, I hated HS. Havn't been back since the day I left, and havn't contacted more than a handfull of people I knew since than. Heck I avoid the bars they hang out in.

Frankly I prefer work to school, never gave a damn about school.

Shoot, I got out of HS 25 years ago, I've stayed in contact with ONE guy from school, and that's turned into phone calls 2-3 times a year. As far as college, I have no contact with anybody.

Be aware of one thing...college is the last time in your life that you really have no responsibilities...it's your last chance to dye your hair a funny color, or go to Europe without worrying about your work schedule, or do any other oddball thing you like before you are really part of the adult world. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!!! One of my largest regrets is that I didn't enjoy and embrace my 4 years in college, I was more interested in getting out of there and getting a job.

Hey!

Congrats on making the decision.

I'll probably make it up for alumni weekend (February - usually around Big Red Freakout) this upcoming year. We should get together - I can introduce you to some people if you'd like

Yeah, definitely. Connections never hurt

I think I'll get over it pretty quickly, and I'll obviously make new friends at college, but I will miss people from high school. I'm definitely going back for my reunions, I want to see what the world makes out of some of these people.

and Pawo, not sure if this is an insult or a compliment, but I thought you were waaaayyyy older, haha

I went to university 35 years ago. Still speak friends from school on a regular basis.

It is not a good idea to go "home" in the weekends. Home should be where you live, not where your parents live.
The people I knew that left every Friday and returned on Sunday night found it hard to have a social life at university.
A lot of them left before graduation.

Graduated HS 5 years ago, and college this year. Amazing how things that seemed so important back then are so frivolous now.

I have a couple friends from highschool, not many though. People turned into giant asses senior year and unfortunately for them (if my friendship is a gift) I have a low tolerance for BS. Those couple friends I have left will be friends for life, however the high school I went to had 70 seniors, so its not like I told off 500 people lol, more like stopped associating with 65.

I made my best friend at college orientation because he had on a Mercedes hat, no joke.
