Now the real work starts!

I closed on the building..finally!
Pleasantly surprised that the former owners left me a 4 ton A-frame engine puller and gantry, two cabinets full of dad's mechanic's tools, 2 x TVs and a stereo system.

UNpleasantly surprised that someone put a foot-sized gash in the siding on the side of the building.

However, ther carpenter and I have decided that since we have to cut a side door, it might as well be there, so no one will notice.

There are 16 eight-foot lights, 200 amp service and I got the electricity turned on in my name while waiting today.

Then went over to the partner of the late owner, and we shot the breeze and looked at his 39 Chevy and his collection of Chevelle SS396 cars and Harleys. He owns the big bump shop in town.

The place is in reasonable shape with an excellent concrete floor, a well connector for a water pump--surprise! and two large industrial ceiling fans which were an unexpected bonus.
Won't bore you with the details but here's one pic.

One more trip to City Hall to register the deed and then just work to do--but a labor of love.

Very nice. You going to do anything special to that floor?

- Peter.

Peter,
I'm looking for suggestions, especially from people who have done their floors. Right now, after building shelving, placing the cars in their storage spots and setting up a service bay, I'll be collecting 10x12 pieces of usable carpet to stand on.

Ahhh, don't worry about covering the floor. With the stable you have, you'll have the floor covered with misc. parts in no time!

It's one of the universal truths. "Stuff expands to fill all available space". Pretty soon you'll be looking for another building you'll have space to work in.

Smart move indeed! A little bit of a hike for me, though.

Cool -- glad your persistence paid off! Is that a speaker I see to the left in the pic? What kind? Looks like a nifty old school unit. Man, I could sure use that kind of space!

If you can swing it, Menard's had those ~3' x 3' square anti-fatigue rubber mats on sale once in a while for about $10 each. Best money I've spent for my garage. I just have a couple that I drag around when I work on different projects. They're a godsend in front of the sand blasting cabinet.

Oh it will, I have people who press their adavntage because they are storing a car for me, even though I have done a helluva lot of work for them for free.
NO MORE

I have a long memory. Ask Ben Boyle.

Looks like a fantastic building. I'm sure you'll be spending most of your free time there.
