Thumbs up THE best game so far in the World Cup: USA vs Slovenia

The game just finished. I was watching on a satellite. I will not tell the score. You have to watch it to see for yourself. The only comment I can made is that US are playing some outstanding football (soccer). It is not going to be a stretch to say that so far they are better than Spain, Germany, France, England. For a country (USA) that it doesn't really care about the game this is phenomenal achievement.
You guys should be very proud for your team today. The game, the show, the supporters..... you have to watch it, you really have to.

Helluva a comeback regardless.

100% with you on this one. The referee was wrong but this is the game.

Admittedly, I'm only a casual fan. But I was pretty psyched to hear when they tied it up and would have been pretty happy with that. Our bookeeper (a huge soccer fan, thanks to her Greek-born hubby, was listening on her computer) was screaming when the scored the third goal. We had a sales meeting this morning, so everyone was pumped up. Only to be followed by her swearing when they disallowed the goal and the satisfaction of playing back to a tie turned to disappointment that they apparently should have won.

I'd imagine this World Cup will tip the favor towards soccer in the U.S.

From the games so far I would say so. The level of quality shown by the US team is there with the best in the world. It will be a shame if no one here pay attention.

US was robbed by an incompetent FIFA referee, BS calls! Shame on FIFA having referees that do not belong in a World Cup tournament
USA is playing great and luck was not part of the best comeback I have seen in a while. Slovenia is a good team that beat Russia to qualify.
US should be in first place...

Get ready for some shame! It has rallied the fans (I've been a fan myself for quite some time) but it will never get numbers like good ol' stankin' NASCAR. We can only hope though...the new philadelphia union stadium is ready to open, there is quite a lot of buzz down here about it.

Yep. It rallies the fans......... every 4 years!
Mia Hamm (sp?) and the US women champs did the same thing a few years back. Remember? And then what...
a few magazine covers, a few endorsements, and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
And that was, if you recall, after jersey waving wearing only a sports bra! What are the guys going to do.

90 minutes and ending up with a 1-0 score is boooooorrrring to most USAers

And those gawdawful horns. I thought there was something wrong with the satellite feed. Signal bleed or something. Sheesh Sitting through 90 minutes of that'd drive you stir crazy.

We'll see how many fans go to Chester to watch pro soccer Tom.

Hey, don't go kicking all of us good ol' stankin' NASCAR fans. Some of us are capable of functioning in a civilized society!

Although I guess the Olympic hockey hype didn't quite carry over either. It did seem to create a fair amount of buzz, not horn related, for a stretch, though.

There is too many options on sports for the US, other countries do not have American football, baseball, NBA, hockey, golf, etc. to watch and participate...that is why soccer is their game. Soccer is simple the cheapest game to play, kick a fkn can if you have to, lay down your shirt as a goal post and there you go. Game on. With all the other choices available, US team is doing great.
