To suddenly put them in an open-minded place is not good for them

Ultra-Orthodox Jews protest court's ruling

I saw this quote and just had to share. Seems to epitomize the problem with religious zealots. Free thought is a threat to them and they try and stifle it at all costs. Sad that the children must pay for the adults ignorance and continue the cycle.

Quote:
Esther Bark, 50, who has seven daughters, said the issue is keeping the girls away from the temptations of the modern world. "To suddenly put them in an open-minded place is not good for them," she said.

The exact same could be said for atheists.

Unfortunately, it can take several generations for superstitions to die out. The process is usually faster with better communication and more education.

I do my best to educate people everywhere I go. Together we can stamp out this superstitious myth of atheism.

I think it's the Jerry Springer effect that makes it funny.

Worry? Threatened? Where or how did you read that? I was humored by it. I do feel sorry for the children.

No, I think not. A religious zealot will believe in their faith regardless of what ever facts are presented. A atheist will believe in what ever the facts indicate is true but will not believe in something that has no factual basis. Were you to produce the Easter bunny for an atheist they would have no choice but to believe in it.

What price would I pay to be an atheist or an agnostic that I wouldn't as a believer in some superstition?

Santa Claus too, I guess.
Oh, let's not forget the tooth fairy.
Why stop there, werewolves, vampires, etc., yeah, produce 'em, in which case you might believe also.

Hopefully the republicans will run away from the neocons and their crazy friends and get back to being fiscal conservatives.
