$1300.00 for front seat covers--thats before shipping and installation, I guess that includes the armrest/headrests-still not in my cars forseeable future.

That's the funny part

How actually inexpensive the Leather "Kits" are...to Mercedes.
(Would you believe less than $500.00,includes door panels,Etc. ?)

DK Switzer makes a large portion of them.

BUT,Just like Home HVAC and Automotive Alternators/Generators and Starters
the "Industry" has the Supply "Locked Up".

Gahh........World Upolstery.........both about the same price.

Making custom leather seat covers isn't a profitable business at any price........labor and materials are a killer.

There is always the local pick 'n pull recycling and dismantling center.

Leatherique.com sells restoration products for leather.

My interior is getting a little worn, one of these days I need to find someplace good to redo it.

Are there local "top shops" or other auto interior places?

Yup, I just haven't had time to deal with it. I think I'm going to have it painted first.

If the seats are too far gone to re-color (Leatherique). Finding a set of donor seats that are in mint shape would be way cheaper (even if you had them shipped).

Yep. I found decent leather seats at pick n pull for $25 each! My mechanic told me not to go and spend the $$$$$ to have them redone at a shop as they are expensive and the quality will not be the same.

I'd like some Scheel-Mann seats, but they don't have a US distributor anymore. I think basic Recaro seats are less than $1000 each, but that would be for manual seats with cloth upholstery.
