Nice, but if I were going for something that old, I'd hold out for a W136 170D.

There's just something very appealing to me about the lines of the W136 (and W187) that the following body styles just don't have.

True, plus you can occasionally find a restored one or older resto for 7,000, no need to do anything but maintenance.

Just go to Bing or Google and do an image search for "Mercedes 170D". Pics abound.

X 2.
I bought one on a screaming deal that cost me 350.00. Now it does need assembly of bumpers and a new front grille but it runs drives etc etc etc., which is why I anm selling my others.

CLK below is a pic of a typical 170 series sedan, tho there are convertibles too.

not overpriced .... WAAAAAAY overpriced

I have seen ponton fuel injected convertibles (220SE) go for 15,000 but they were Jay Leno-level show pieces.

Pontons are cult classics and good daily drivers, like fintail sedans or Citroen 2CVs but they are NOT high-value cars. They never were.

If you want high cost, go 300SL gull wing and some custom Adenauers.

Tell you what.. I have three 190D cars plus extra OM 621 engines. One is sorta spoken for, so none will be sold until the buyer makes his choice.

After that, the others will be sold. Call me then and the price will be reasonable.

I'm limiting my collected MBs to:
one perfect 180D.
Plus one 170
Plus one SL roadster
plus MAYBE one 600 or one Adenauer

The others, plus Groucho's car, will all go starting next year.

Few Citroens will survive the cut as well.
