Who is the next Yankee/former Yankee on Death Watch?
We all know the power of Threes.
1. Bob Sheppard. 2. George Steinbrenner. 3. ??? If I was an old-time Yankee I'd be a little nervous right now. As a lifelong Sox fan, obviously there is some animosity on the fan level. But on a personal level, RIP and condolences to their families. Love him or hate him, George had a huge impact on MLB.

George Steinbrenner Yikes.
Ralph Houk, aka "The Major" managed the great Yankee teams of the "60s.... Mantle, Maris Whitey Ford, Berra, Ellie Howard, Bobby Richardson. At 90, he's outlived many of the guys he managed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ralph_Houk He earned the nickname "The Major" based upon his service in WWII. Ralph Houk rose from private to major during his four years in military service. He was at the Battle of the Bulge and the Remagen crossing. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Silver Star and Purple Heart. http://www.baseballinwartime.co.uk/player_biographies/houk_ralph.htm Last edited by dynalow; 07-13-2010 at 11:54 AM. |
