VIZIO with built in Wi/Fi

Saw this TV the other day but it was not hooked up to a net work so I don't know how it works.

It says it can access face book. Big plus for the wife unit (if she is happy, then my life is good ) When I go on Facebook on the PC, a mouse makes it far easier to navigate. Does anyone have any experience with this? How much of a PIA is it if at all to navigate with the QWERTY keyboard provided with the remote?

I kind of like the idea of streamable media (netflix) and other content with out the need of a lap top. I am aware that it is not a PC and that the content needs to be supported by an app on the TV

I have a Mac mini connected to a TV for streaming Internet stuff. Using a remote for typing is sorta a PITA, a wireless keyboard is easier if the hardware will support it. I either use a keyboard, a remote app on my iPhone (touchpad and tiny keyboard), or a VCN app on an iPad over wifi (better keyboard).

The remote on the VIZIO is not a regular remote. It actually has a built in QWERTY keyboard (about the size of a larger cell phone) for typing.

I can hook up the lap top to the TV as well, I was just hoping to avoid that.

That sounds like it might work, if you can get used to using a small keyboard. You can probably navigate OK with the keyboard arrows, try it on a computer. Having hulu, netflix, etc. available on a TV is pretty cool.

It's easy to design an web app that doesn't need a mouse. I'm thinking of the facebook app for blackberry. Personally I find the app lackluster and it lacks a lot of features and abilities that the mobile website has more of. I keep the app because it sends notifications into my inbox and has a nifty "Upload to facebook" option. I use this a lot to take pictures of dodads in my car and post the pic here if I have a question.

One of the things I love about our Bluray player is the built in Pandora and Netflix applications. I use Netflix more than the Bluray player to stream movies.

I would however get an Xbox 360. You can browse the entire movie collection right on the TV without having to use your computer to "send" the movie to the blu-ray player.

Does the TV have built in Netflix? The unlimited streaming is worth its weight in gold.

We just got a new Panasonic plasma. The VieraCast feature (uses a wired or wi/fi ethernet connection) broadens the use, but is more novelty than anything useful. Pandora Radio, Bloomberg, YouTube, Skype and Amazon's version of Netflix are easy to navigate with the standard remote.
