This is a private forum; you gave up your free speech when you agreed with the rules.

Was everyone stoned during high school civics class? I thought it was just me.

a) i wasn't, uh, totally serious. on the other hand,
b) i don't recall signing my rights away?

i think that most, if not all?, of the "critical" responses are actually quite helpful to the seller. tyler and the "dealer guy" (whose name escapes me) know a lot about the market, and a lot about effective marketing. i guess people - sellers - have a "right" to ask ridiculous prices in poorly constructed, non informative, confusing and misleading ads?

Yes they do, and people will vote with their money until they get their act together.

I imagine its okay to ask questions, as long as its not "why is your car a piece of *%it? :D

As of a week ago, I'm a licensed used car dealer, so no more posting cars for sale here I guess. :(

400 Eric's recent post in his 300E thread is giving me the shakes. The rules came just in time for him...:D

This is a good point, I was not aware of the new guidelines and have since deleted my post. I'll get in touch with Colin privately.

Thanks!

*edit, I see the mod gods have made some changes. Good show.

I've been trying to tone it down, but got sucked into that same thread you described. It was regrettable and I apologized before he deleted the thread. I'm glad some good is coming from it, though.

There were reasons why he was getting trashed, Tyler.

Hey, I'd have NO PROBLEM with you selling your own car(s) that have your name on the title. I WOULD have a problem with you bringing your "work" home with you and then you shooting a few pics and trying the hawk the stuff on us unsuspecting PPers...there, we'd have to draw the line. :P ;)

yes, but fear not, there's still no prohibition on you giving me a nice W126 or W108. :D

I agree with Tyler's suggestion. The current guideline seems me to be very broad. No commentary? Does that mean I shouldn't compliment the seller's vehicle and wish him/her luck? It seems "commentary" should be defined more. I usually will compliment a seller or so. I've never written mean or angered comments, to my knowledge anyway.

I think commentary should be allowed, it might give prospective buyers a good feeling about a car thats for sale. By seeing respected members of the forum approving/complimenting/wishing luck the prospective buyer might be more inclined to inquire/purchase.

Just a thought.

Point to ponder......

Rules are only as good as their enforcement.......

Sorta like the OD rules that are not enforced...... Or the immigration laws.

The Mods are fair, if they are on your side by reasoning with them, not by sniping at them.

Palangi 08-02-2010 08:55 PM

Not saying they (the mods) are unfair. Just saying that posted rules are frequently not enforced. If rules are not going to be enforced, why post them in the first place? I don't see the point in posting more rules when the existing rules are being ignored. If the rules are out of date or something, why not revise or delete them?
