the ultimate in stealth is James Bond's car. He pushes a button and the license plates change instantly. push a button and voila!, out comes the wine bar which makes entertaining the women a lot more fun!

I've driven cars with no plates for weeks at a time, with no attention from the boys in blue...I wouldn't do it for years at a time though. No point in tempting fate.

Really? I always assumed that driving without plates would get you pulled over in a heartbeat

A friend has been rolling around for 4 years without plates... Has not had a problem with cops in those 4 years.

I assume that you could get away with driving a high end car with no plates in most parts of the country. The local cops won't know who you are and won't want to mess with you. I wouldn't try it with a 71 pinto.

Most recently, I drove a 92 VW Cabriolet for 2+ weeks, 85 mile commute daily, with no plates. I had the title, bill of sale and proof of insurance just in case, but I even had a state trooper follow me, no problemo. I think the fact that I'm in my 40s and look clean cut helps avoid issues...

No Temporary plates in Georgia
So,
I've been seeing the same white chevy cavalier with what's called a Dealer Driveout tag (Paper with dealer's logo and a date written on it in magic marker [supposedly good for 30 days only] ) for the last three years. Same ratty white paper tag, same ratty white chevy.

Amazing that they won't even pull people over for missing plates. I've been pulled over for having "too loud an exhaust". I educated them on their own ordinances (I keep the document in my car ), and went on my way.
