I love the Swiss, they can own lots of guns to.

We should try to be more like the Swiss, good tax laws, good gun laws, good beer, and hot women.

In this country we get very uptight about people riding bikes with battle rifles slung over them.

All men must serve in the military and female service is voluntary. The gun in the picture looks like a Sig SG 510 which is a military issued weapon. According to what I have read the Swiss are required to maintain their weapon and ammo till they are released from service.

and this according to Wiki:
Quote:
To carry firearms in public or outdoors (and for an individual who is a member of the militia carrying a firearm other than his Army-issue personal weapons off-duty), a person must have a Waffentragschein (gun carrying permit), which in most cases is issued only to private citizens working in occupations such as security.

It is, however, quite common to see a person serving military service to be en route with his rifle.
[edit] Conditions for getting a Carrying Permit

There are three conditions:

* fulfilling the conditions for a buying permit (see section below)
* stating plausibly the need to carry firearms to protect oneself, other people, or real property from a specified danger
* passing an examination proving both weapon handling skills and knowledge regarding lawful use of the weapon

The carrying permit remains valid for a term of five years (unless otherwise surrendered or revoked), and applies only to the type of firearm for which the permit was issued. Additional constraints may be invoked to modify any specific permit. Neither hunters nor game wardens require a carrying permit
I think this would be a good idea in the US. Not sure you would think so.

The Swiss didn't even have permits until recently, the rest of Europe is trying to make them more wussy.

The Swiss can also own anything they want, the latest and greatest full auto toys. Were stuck to pre 1986 stuff unless your a dealer.

That's extrapolation going a bit further than reality. Traffic fines are not criminal offenses, they are more along the lines of civil penalties. Criminal codes cannot make distinctions based on "suspect" classifications such as race or social status (except in Hollywood, perhaps).
