I like the Swiss law-
"Under Swiss law, the level of fine is determined by the wealth of the driver and the speed recorded."

Why would you like that? Aren't we all equal under the law? So if you are poor you can break the law without any consequences, but if you are wealthy you have to obey or pay. Sounds like class warfare to me, but I would be willing to try it if we could also have Switzerlands gun laws. BTW- Swedes aren't from Switzerland:o

I hope they keep the *****'s car in addition to the fine. There is no excuse for operating a motor vehicle in such a reckless manner on public roadways. Somebody who can afford a ride like that can afford to take his penile substitute to a track and whiz around in really fast circles all day long, endangering nobody but his own dumb ass.

I like it because it equalizes us under the law. Requiring the poor to pay the same monetary fine IS class warfare.
BTW, the law was broken in Switzerland by a Swede. What's your point?

How does making different penalties for the same crime equalize anything?? So if a poor guy was going the same speed in the same car it would be a lesser offense? This is straight up class warfare- let's get even with that rich SOB and make him pay because he must be evil if he has money. Castro would be proud. My bad on the Switzerland/Swede thing- all I saw was the Swede part in the headline and I ASSumed the heinous crime (unless you are poor) was comitted in Sweden.

Get back to us when you're sober.

I guess that's your standard reply when you have nothing meaningful to add to the discussion or you are trying to pick a fight. According to my clock it is 2245 hours in California which would put your region at about last call for alcohol time. You do the math. Goodnite.

But rich people feel they have the right to get from place to place faster also, which is why they speed all the time. I cannot count the number of range rovers, huge SUV's, and other expensive machines that pass me at 90mph every day, all while on their cell phone or texting. They need to be pulled over and tazered until smoke comes off their be-hinds

You're obviously not one of the rich, so how again do you have the right to speak for them? Perhaps rich people are very driven, confident, and focused; they drive as an expression of their personalities.

"Hate the rich" is an amazing theme going on here; it's wrong just as much as "hate the poor". Some of you on this forum amaze me.

I've met poor jerks and i've met rich jerks. I'm met nice poor people and nice rich people. All comes down to personality at the end of the day.

It has nothing to do with hating the rich. Maybe the guy's a poor person who owns that car. What do you suppose the odds are? For me it has everything to do with objecting to arrogant, agressive drivers, rich poor or otherwise.

I think this fining system makes sense. You are taking away a percentage of the person's income, making it hurt their wallet. Giving the same % fine to everyone seems fair.
