Reincarnated lama visits Colorado

Is it fair to designate a young boy a reincarnated lama? Could it do as much psychological harm as sexual abuse?

& I am the reincarnation of the tooth fairy !!!:bsflag:

I can't see it even being on the same playing field as sexual abuse. Maybe more like being born to famous parents, but without most of the negative things that go along with it.

Maybe he will have an opportunity to meet Steven Seagal Rinpoche, and get some of that western culture he's interested in.

Of course it's BS, it's based on religion. The more interesting question is whether indoctrinating young kids into their parents'/society's religion is actually harmful, or if it's just a harmless tradition (e.g., Santa or the Easter Bunny). This is an extreme case, but what about the "average" parents who teach their religion to their kids before the children are old enough to make their own decisions; is that also harmful, or is just harmless fantasy?

According to Buddhist theory . . . my legal career is going to put me so far back in line, I'll be lucky to be a vertabrate in the next life.

Good for the parents. They have contributed another drone to the collective. Not sure if it is bad for the kids seeing as how they SHOULD have the common sense to outgrow the indoctrination when they grow older. Should being the operative word. OTOH, you have a lot of people here that say "I was raised.......", IOW, No brain to think for themselves.

Well, if you're Richard Dawkins the answers pretty clear cut...

- Peter.

In this particular instance I do think it is harmful. They have taken away some of the most important choices that modern children/teenagers/young adults make. His life has been mapped out for him by adults who are using him for their own ends in his youth.
Anyone ever hear of a reincarnated lama opting out when he turns of age? Not me.

Whomever you are, why can't indoctrination of those "facts" wait till they are old enough? Or is there a fear that they might not simply swallow the "facts" at that age where the can reason?

Having everyone in the heard hang on your every word might be too intoxicating for him to simply walk away from. Kinda like you asking me "If you walked into a room full of horny good looking women, have everything you could want, would you walk away and go to a 9-5 job"? Well Duh!!

Don't know why, but the first thing that popped into my head after seeing this thread was a scene from the animated movie "The Emperor's New Groove" -

"EVIL LLAMA!! EVIL LLAMA!!":D

Methinks perhaps I forgot my meds this morning.
