5 HP Briggs engine problem, carb?

Have a rototiller with this engine:

http://www.briggsandstratton.com/maint_repair/manual_and_more/docmanualdetails.aspx?showpdf=MS6817_LO.pdf

Carb is on page 5 and is a 697028.

I drained the old gas and put in fresh. I cleaned the carb, dropped bowl, sprayed gumout through everything. It will run fine as long as you spray starter spray into it. So I assume that means the spark is OK.

Gas runs out of hose when valve/petcock opened. Bowl has gas in it.

Is this definitely a carb problem? New one is 50.00. Any ideas?

Thanks

I would change the spark plug and air filter before a new carb, youll need them either way

Pull the jet out and clean it. It's plugged up. No need for a new carb.

The part they label as the jet is the screw/plug that holds the bowl on. It is as clean as a whistle. I sprayed all the little passages I think.

Take the carb off and spray it with carb cleaner, also double check that all 3 holes in the Jet bolt are completely clear, also check that your float, Needle and seat move properly

Float and needle move good. As I recall there were two holes in the middle where the jet/plug screws in and at least one more in another location. The two in the middle, one was bigger than the other. I feel like I had them cleared but not sure. So you all think this is definitely a carb symptom? Is there some definitive test to make sure they are all clear. This is an Intek engine.

Part number 633 is the jet I think. Did you take it out and clean it?

The jet is 117. 633 is a foam shaft seal. 117 is very clean. Pretty big holes in that one.
