That car is too nice to put an aftermarket headunit in. If the original is dead find another original.

Wow... Yup, very similar

That's a pretty good deal on a 560SL of that caliber too. Mine will be priced similarly.

The original in my 350 is really nice I had to do a lot of work to get it going again.

When I see an aftermarket radio in a car to me that means someone was sloppy... they didn't have the time or skill to do a proper repair, and if I get the car that means I'm probably going to be faced with a wad of cut off wires and improper connections.

But I'm strange like that...

I yanked the Becker Mexico out of my 300cd after it randomly emitted high pitched screeching noises through the speakers. The old radios look good, can pick up NPR and that's about it.

Sweet SL though!

It depends on the aftermarket stereo to me. When I see an off-brand or some flashy Sony X-plode thing it turns me off. A clean, all black, quality name brand one doesn't bother me.

I hear ya brother. The Red Baron has a circa 2000 Blaupunkt installed, and it still looks clean and tasteful.

Most of the units by Sony, Pioneer, et. al. just look like Hong Kong at midnight to me.

Got the car all cherried out, and at the detail shop bumped into Lee Frye, who is running the auction for blacktop nationals. He talked me into putting the car in... Here's the story. Should be fun either way.

btw, my car is in their photo gallery.
