R-12 question

Does anyone know of a reliable source for small, automotive size, cans of R-12. I don't like to get stuff like that on ebay so looking for another source.

Search around for a place that can certify you to buy and possess it and you can buy all you want at auto A/C supply stores.

If you can pass the test, and you probably can, that is all it takes. At least, that's the way it was the last time I looked into it.

In my town almost any refrigeration place has it. Its not cheaper, actually had been for some time, than R134a. Its legal to put in a system that was made with it, just can not use on any new systems. I would just call around a few refrigeration places and see if they can load it up in a can or even the car itself.

I have the universal CFC certification and the automotive certification so that parts not a problem. My problem is that so far the only way I have found it locally is in the standard jug that cost 3 or 4 hundred and I only want a few cans. I wish I could use R-22, I have a lot of that.

What's wrong with buying 12oz cans off of eBay? They're sealed cans and you can have your pick of manufacturers. Oh, and you get some pretty good deals on them also. You're protected when you pay via PayPal, so I don't understand your reluctance to purchase them there.

Some Napa locations sell them. I know at the one I used to work at we had a ton of it, and we all got the schpiel about not selling to non-EPA certified customers, etc. etc.

Craigslist, $15 to $20 per can. If there aren't any on there, I just go to NAPA and show them my EPA card. But NAPA typically wants $30+ per can!

Not positive, but I think it's pretty much all old stock.
