Man Fired Five Shots Into Van, Operator Struck by Three

Thomas Patrick Destories, 69, agreed to a charge of second-degree murder in the April 19, 2009, death of Douglas Georgianni, who was shot three times while working in a photo-enforcement van in north Phoenix.

Whoa. I don't like getting tickets either but this jackass took the 'live free or die' motto in a slightly wrong direction.

I never knew that cops hang out in those things. Terrible accident, but I believe him.

This guy wasn't a cop; he worked for the camera company.

But cops do indeed hang out in speed camera vans. I didn't know before this that non-cops did it too.

Let the vans tires down or spray the lens with paint if you must. This is way over the top!!

But of course, it is still a good idea to have 10 Billion guns floating through our society. Just compare the amount of gun violence here to ANY other country that does not allow civilian gun ownership. Pretty amazing statistics. Guns are the cowards weapon anyways, if you really want to fight, use a knife.

I say they take the van (bullet holes, blood stains, etc.), park it in the prison yard and make it his cell.

One nimrod does something stupid. Everyone else is just as guilty 'cause they own the same type of "tool" that was used by the idiot.

With that kind of logic, cowards shouldn't be allowed to own a car, KNIFE, baseball bat, truck, fork or spoon, bug-spray, lighters, gas-cans, rocks in their front yard, bathtubs with radios plugged in next to 'em, high-fat content foods, any rope of anykind, nuclear weapons, boats, trains or have a relative that's just a bit out of "sorts" with the enviroment around themselves.

That just about sums up life itself.

I'm pretty sure that "Amnesty International" has the body counts for the "rest of that story"... As for me, I'll take a civilian-fired bullet anyday as opposed to not being able to defend myself from a government-sponsored piece of lead.

Guns do have a way of inflating the ego, IMO. Giving a false sense of power.

The guy is a complete moron. Good riddance. Despite the pain in the ass the cameras were this was pathetically stupid, but probably inevitable sooner or later. There had been other incidents of folks spraypainting them and attacking them with axes.

They were hated because they were seen simply as a revenue generating mechanism for the state and the new bunch in control have just turned them all off.
