Article said it uses one kilowatt to turn one kg of plastic into one liter of oil. But it didn't say for how long.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't "one kilowatt" just the measure of current at any one instant whereas "one kilowatt hour" is a measure of actual work done?

cmac, you are correct about 1kw, maybe the cretin who wrote the article meant 1kwhr.

The term to search for is "catalytic pyrolysis". A similar problem exists trying to turn celulose (paper or wood) into something burnable (other than what happens when you just burn paper or wood with a match). As in creating alcohol.
Creating biodiesel from vegitable oil, but you get glycerine as a waste product. -CTH |
