Post lunch coma

Darling Wife offered to join me for an office picnic this afternoon. Far be it from me to say no, so she headed to me work place while ran out and procured food (that whole hunter/gatherer thing I suppose).

Had done dinner at a very yummy Indian place near work, but never lunch. Called ahead with our order: malai kofta for the lovely lady, navratan korma for yours truly. An order of samosas and some garlic naan to share.

Very nice, very heavily accented Indian gentleman on the phone took a couple attempts to make me understand that today's special was buy 2 dishes, get a 3rd free. Oh darn, twist my arm. Let's add matar paneer.

Get there to pick it up and realize I shoulda brought a wheel barrow. Hory clap was that bag huge!

Darling Wife and I get to the work place at the same time, saunter on in and start gorging. An hour later, it hardly looks like we took a nibble. I honestly think we could feed a world cup soccer team for three days on the left overs.

Roll ourselves out of the building, get a hug and a kiss and Darling Wife is on her way back home and I'm going back to my office and closing the door.

Wake me up before my 4:00 PM conference call, will ya?

LOL
I know how you feel. I had the all you can eat pulled pork at Sunny's last night. I made a big pig of myself. :)
My stomach still isn't right.

The lunch's that get me are the margarita ones I have at a nice Mexican place overlooking the harbor.

2-3 strong margaritas and all I want to do is nap.:D

I agree. Siesta, baby! It's one of the greatest cultural practices of the Spanish. Pity the more uptight northern european types rather keep their noses to the grindstone after lunch in the summer.

Just had HALF a Capt. Sal's Shrimp Po-Boy down in NOLA.
All I can say is

***SNORE***

:sleeping::sleeping:

My favorite lunches are when My Girl is off from the hospital and I sneak out to the local park for a picnic with her! That is the best!

Last mission trip to NOLA, wife went out for a Po Boy sandwich. I think it was five bucks. She cut it into halves and it took her and the pastor to eat the whole sandwich. Geeesh that was a lot of food for little money.

That's why you should always be sure to include me in your lunches. No food will be wasted.

I was going to make an orifice picnic comment but then thought better of it. :D

OOH! Tomorrow's lunch - IF and it is a BIG IF I am hungry by then!

I got the Shrimp combo on French fully dressed except for the ketchup.
Cost $9 with fries - a lunch bag full of them and a drink!

For those who don;t know...

The sandwich must have 5 pounds of fried shrimp on an 18 inch long french bread. Then there are pickles, lettuce, tomato, and onion covered with hot sauce!
Add in a kids lunch bag full of fries and a drink!

No wonder this town runs to XXL size clothes!

I gotta get me a salad STAT!

Reminds me of my deep-dish-pizza-buffet-and-pitcher-of-beer days. It was tough going back to work then - now it would kill me. :)

layback40 08-24-2010 11:49 PM

In Australia we used to have what was called the 11 till 3 lunch. 11am till 3am !! Normally needed more than one venue and a case of red or carton of beer to keep it going.
sadly, our politicians removed the tax deduction from "entertainment" so these "lunches" disappeared!! We are back to a take away or a plate of nibbles.

raymr 08-25-2010 12:00 AM

I had mussels and naan yesterday. The mussels are cooked in a coconut curry sauce that you mop up with the naan. So good. If I had to choose only 1 meal for the rest of my life, that would be it!
