Neighborhood invaded with Japanese stilt grass

We didn't realize until it was too late. Our lawn was not so great to begin with, so we didn't notice this new species until most of our normal grass was displaced. Its also growing in the woods and along the stream by our house, basically everywhere. It looks like miniature bamboo.

I was told that due to the local terrain, we would be fighting a losing battle since the seed pods survive in the ground for years. I'm not a lawn anal-ist to begin with, so the fight would be over pretty quick. I might plant a bunch of Zoysia and watch the plant world battle it out.
