screw that crap. You see one SL you see them all. I rarely see a w124 coupe let alone cabriolet on the road. There were more SL's made than w124 cabrio's.

seriously... thats just crap.. leta have 5 months of just SL's.. whoooooo... look this one is grey, this one is white with an amg spoiler, oh this one is red... ok...

Thats it. So not even $300 in 12 months! All of my coworkers spend 1.5x that EVERY month. Plus my insurance is about $55 a month. Can't beat that!
A girl at work locked the keys in her 07 jeep. Which I find very difficult to do even in any mercedes I've owned. I told her " I don't know how you managed to lock your keys in a newer truck, but you did". She replied, "its not new.. its an old truck"

people like that are just stupid.

What ever happened to your 300SDL? Maybe the buyer wants to sell it back to you

I responded with "and how much do you pay a month for your 06 Wrangler? AND you still pay to fix **** on it?" (answer: around 450) ... I dont understand his reaction though, I paid a fraction of full price for the car, my running maintenance cost is much less than anything other than a entry-level sedan's monthly payment... ... My figuring is this: I could have bought the car new, paid that AND maintenance on the vehicle. ... Let's say a 190E was 35k when new in 93. Adjusting for inflation thats around $51k in today's money. ... So far including purchase price of the car I have a little under 21% invested in the 190E. Now, since the 190E was a gift to me from my parents when I graduated HS. I, personally only have 13% of the original price invested. ... Now I know this isnt the "normal" way of looking at cars and their worth but I look at if from the standpoint of..if i bought it when it was new...and maybe thats a flawed method of looking at it.. ... Looking at the 420SEL my parents just bought, sticker price was high 50's..so let's say $56k. In today's money, thats $95k. So far they've paid, including purchase price, around 6% of the MSRP. ... Granted your mileage may vary from car to car and situation to situation.. ... I'll have to run though my records book and put in all the bills for my one 300SD. It was bought new and kept in the family... ... Any thoughts on this train of thought? Think its flawed?
Nope...your logic is sound and when properly applied, it's also good, financial advice.

Too many people THINK they need the latest/greatest thing that pops up on the tube or is parked in their neighbor's driveway. Keeping up with the Jones (Debt) is not the way to beat the Jones. Let THEM be the first in line at the chick-in counter at the loonie-bins or the first ones on the soup-lines when the creditors take them out to lunch and eat 'em alive. Short-term satisfaction for long-term pain and agony is the trademark of too many people today.

For some though, they are starting to realize it...although, for some of them, it may be to late. They heard the "sirens' song" of "Play now, pay later!" and it's bit them so hard on the arse they don't have a pot to p**s in anymore...but they're smarter NOW because of it. Some may be lucky enough to start over, but for many, their "nest eggs" have been smashed and scrambled and there's not a single thing they can do to re-coup the loses.

I've been EXTREMELY LUCKY in my current position...I've got a company-provided vehicle (part of the salary component) and because of that, I'm able to "baby" my babies...and not tear them up for whatever reason. I'm divorced, the kid isn't anywhere near the house or getting a signal that he can move in with me at all...all my bills are paid via the internet and I actually have a few hundred after EVERY paycheck to bank or do with whatever I want. And yes...the newest vehicle that I OWN is only 23 years old (and the rest are older still), but they're all 100% paid for and insured, and I only have to pay for the occassional filter, tire, gas, oil or tune-up...no bank has me by the ba**s or short-hairs. And two of my vehicles have a "standing offer of first refusal" for over 2.5x's what I paid for them. (But, I'm NOT selling 'em...they're too much fun! )

Now, if I were to win the lottery and become a stinking-rich (I already have the "stinking-" part down! ) bas*ard, then I'd buy new and screw the off-the-lot depreciation.

But until that time comes, I'm happy to be able to do what I'm doing right now.

The problem is all the little old ladies in Michigan who have nice Mercedes move to Florida, leaving the rusted out ones here for people to drive with their 36" wheels
