Any solar experts here?
I have an off grid house with a Trace DR1512 inverter that has a remote on/off switch that has gone bad. The Trace model # is RC4. The trouble I am having is finding a new one as Trace was bought out by Xantrex, and recently Xantrex was sold to Schneider. As a result as soon as I say Trace to any salesperson their mind seems to go blank. I even joined a solar forum to ask if anyone could help me locate the elusive RC4, but no luck so far. I have been told that an RC8 will also work, but that has not been able to be confirmed. I'm sure that there are plenty of RC4's sitting on shelves somewhere and it is just a matter of finding one (just like vintage Mercedes parts)! Anyone have any knowledge on this subject or leads on parts sources? My wife would be eternally grateful for not having to go out to the laundry shed where the inverter is to turn it on and off! Thanks-Scott

Local expert...
I'm not an expert, though I support the technology...
For expert advice on the subject contact Ken Thames here in the Denver area - http://www.thamessolar.com He is a master electrician who's made his living installing complex off the grid solutions - I went to his seminars and have been impressed with his knowledge and down to earth presence. Great guy - give him a call: Call 303-922-2063 or email us at thamessolar@earthlink.net

Real Goods has been in business a long time. If they can't provide the part, they can probably point you in the right direction.
