BMW 525i Wagon

Anyone familiar with these? I am thinking about picking up a '92 with 150k on it.

Not with the wagon, but a number of friends had E34's in the 90's and loved them. They looked like a million dollars and drove really well. It seems that the ones with dark interiors look better as they get older.

I think that the wagon is a fantastic looking car. The 2.5 liter straight 6 is bomb proof. It should be a good buy.

The 525i is a pretty lazy engine, if there is a 530i around that is much better I would go for that.

Try www.bimmerforums and www.roadfly.com for more information before you jump.

I have heard they are pretty bombproof until higher miles, about 150k and above, then watch out for transmissions, the plastic bits in the radiator, where there should have been metal ones, going bad, stuff like that.

They can nickel and dime you to death, but when running well, they are incomparable, sweet!! Classy small wagons, for sure!

They'll be expensive to keep on the road just like an old Mercedes can be. $1000-$2000 a year should be sufficient.
