And they call it class warfare to let the tax cut expire, if this is class warfare so was the Bush tax cut.

Bush's tax cuts where "across the board" and reduced the taxes of every taxpayer, the Dear Leader pits some taxpayers (and many non-taxpayers) against those who already pay the vast majority of taxes now when he lets the Bush tax cut expire for some and not others.

Lest we forget gentlemen,

Were it not for Democratic supporting votes, EGGTRA (the '01 "Bush Tax Cuts") would not have passed the Senate and become law. The Senate vote was 58 for, 33 against, 2 Dems courageously voted "present" and 6 Dems and one Repo. did not vote.
I suppose the Senate Dems were still in such shock over the election that they were just caught napping??

In the House, 28 Dems voted for it too, although those votes didn't sway the passage. (iirc)

The tax Rate Changes: 10% reduction. Over 5 years!! Whoaa Nellie!!

Another thing to remember is that this bill passed before Sept. 11, 2001. These cuts may have helped the economy avoid a greater skid in the after shock of 9/11 and the mini recession of 98-00. Remember the empty malls and car showrooms after 9/11??

"EGTRRA generally reduced the rates of individual income taxes:

a new 10% bracket was created for single filers with taxable income up to $6,000, joint filers up to $12,000, and heads of households up to $10,000.

the 15% bracket's lower threshold was indexed to the new 10% bracket
the 28% bracket would be lowered to 25% by 2006.
the 31% bracket would be lowered to 28% by 2006
the 36% bracket would be lowered to 33% by 2006
the 39.6% bracket would be lowered to 35% by 2006
The EGTRRA in many cases lowered the taxes on married couples filing jointly by increasing the standard deduction for joint filers to between 174% and 200% of the deduction for single filers.

Additionally, EGTRRA increased the per-child tax credit and the amount eligible for credit spent on dependent child care, phased out limits on itemized deductions and personal exemptions for higher income taxpayers, and increased the exemption for the Alternative Minimum Tax, and created a new depreciation deduction for qualified property owners................"

Just the facts, ma'am. Just the facts.

The Good News Is That There Isn't Bad News in Unemployment Numbers

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped 27,000 to 451,000, the lowest since the week ended July 10, the Labor Department said. That was well below financial market expectations for 470,000.

Separately, the trade deficit shrank 14 percent to $42.8 billion in July, smaller than the $47.3 billion gap that markets had expected. Analysts said that suggested the pace of economic growth would quicken in the third quarter.

Has anyone else read what Morris wrote in the original piece?

Take a look at it again and see if there is a fact anywhere in it. It is all opinion and is full of 'if' and 'it could' type of phrases. None of them stand up to what many people call 'the truth'.

In effect, it is nothing but a long piece of uninformed baloney.

The part I like about it is that so many people fell for it!
