dunno, as I have recently become disgusted with Firefox, and have removed it from a few of my heavy use machines. I hope it is better, because the issues surrounding the old build has forced me to resort to Google Chrome, which I do not like as well, but does not seem to be the target of as much malicious code.

the tab bar and the display are kinda Chrome-ish.

but if hangups and stalling were your problem... this has been pretty fluid. No interruptions or major stalls.

I set my cache really small and it erases everything when I close FF.

I have a slower cable connection that always hung up before, especially on ebay C-list and here... 4.x has been flawless so far.

Well... I'm back, and on 4... we'll see. Hope it eliminated the backdoors and redirects

FWIW, OSAC and the govt of Germany sent out cautionary notes to a gazillion Germans about problems with FF, especially back doors, etc. They forced FF to fix them to the Germans' satisfaction or they wouldn't buy it for use in govt PCs. Yesterday, OSAC reported a link where Germans could e-mail and get info on patches, as well, but I didn't save the link, cuz I don't use FF that much.

Onb a separate topic: I am looking for an alternate to IE and FF. I don't like Chrome, just because I used to get all these forced downloads with Chrome every time I wanted something else. So I downloaded it then uninstalled it.

Anyone got suggestions?

Have you tried Opera? I've never used it myself, but I know some folks swear by it.

Using Opera right now, it's my favorite personally. About as fast as Chrome though it has a better interface to me.

Since I upgraded my computer to a Core i7 with lots of RAM, no browser is slow.

If you dont like Opera i would just stick with IE8. It's faster than firefox in most cases. Also like Matt says, when you have a decent computer there isn't a huge difference between the major browsers. It mostly comes down to how well they handle Flash-heavy websites (die flash... die).
