Eurocopters new model

I wonder if there's less chances of a catastrophy like the tilt rotor.

I've totally been designing that in my head now for years...

Cool. A helicopter with a rotor system that is actually little more than drag over 200+knots.
Next thing will be in-flight folding blade systems.

Looks to me like they’re going to have some serious ground safety issue with this one though.

I think MBB (Germany) was playing with it in the early 60s.

Those props would have to be at 0 RPM if anyone plans to board or disembark. I would be scared crapless if I had to board while those things were whirling around.

Gahhhh, maybe they will add a circular ring to act as a guard around the edges of the propeller... and maybe a guard on the front.... I suppose that is why the zebra paint job is there...

The whole tilt rotor thing is retarded. A gyroplane is cheaper, safer and more efficient.

Whatever happened to gyroplanes? They were all the rage in the 1930's.

Gyro's are HUGE in the home built market. There are many excellent examples out there.
