So if you're traveling on a wintry Interstate, catching up on a Rockford files rerun on Hulu, and a little undetected black ice is present under the tires, what happens? Does the car still try to maintain 65 MPH as it enters a curve?

Of course.

I'm sure this technology would only be usable in good weather. Rain and snow would disrupt its optical sensors.

That is a huge consideration, though. If people become to reliant on this technology, use it when they shouldn't, and someone gets killed, whose fault is it? I can't imagine the liability an autodrive system would put on an automaker that builds them.

Mercedes-Benz beat them to it by two decades ;)

Then you must really be a teenage female driver, that texts 24/7 except when sleeping in bed who would literally die if they took away your electronic mobile messaging device.

BEYOND disgusting.

Someone should splash hydrochloric acid in your eyes.

AFTER they cut your thumbs off.

I don't have a problem with it.

Cool, what happens in the winter with 6in of snow on the road? The entire US isn't like sunny CA.
