Process service hints

I think I've found the former tenant I want to serve a summons to. A friend told me he works at a bar/music venue running the electronics and also lives there. I have a friend I think will serve him. If the guy sees me, I'm guessing he will skedaddle. I've got a poor picture from Facebook and another old picture from a driver's license. Any hints on how to serve him. Just send my friend in, have him look around, see if he can identify him and serve him the papers?

Pretty much; I would walk in, ask the bartender if he's there, and hand the guy the document.

Get a woman to ask about him and ask the bartender or bouncer to point him out especially when the place is jumping! Bartender/bouncer will think he's doing the guy a favor! Once the lady ID's him she can call you and tell you excatly what he's wearing and where he is send your process server in.

An attractive young healthy woman will work best!

Reminds me of a story about a real "professional tenant".

She was the ultimate piece of work..........plenty of stories including her reporting me to the police for breaking into her apartment and stealing her panties............

Anyway, I had to get rid of the *****.

So, I had the GF take a dozen flowers to the door and ring the bell. She looked out and saw the flowers and asked who it was............"Flower delivery".

She couldn't resist...........came down...........opened the door..........and was served.

It was excellent.

Not their task in NY. They do the actual eviction after a judge issues the judgment of possession and a warrant of eviction.

They don't do service of papers there? I know they do here and I used the a lot because the badge and gun opens a lot of doors and it makes it embarrassing for the person being served as opposed to a process server doing it quietly.

Not enough time. I only found out where he works today and I only have a couple of days before the deadline.

Which deadline? I know in WI you cannot serve for a court case a couple days before the court date. It has to be 10 working days.

If you have enough time legally use your buddy

I've been told I have to serve 2 weeks before court date. I'm trying to confirm that at the moment.
