Some piece of work just keyed my car

I'm so angry it is not even funny.

Should I write a note on my window asking the person to be a man and own up to it?

What are my options here as to fix. It looks like it was keyed. What do you guys think?
It was in my parking spot. I have no enemies or anything ???? I am so pissed off right now. I cannot believe somebody would do something like this

Given the height of the scratch, I say it was a child or a short person.

Absolutely!

The person was looking around as he walked - so it wouldn't be recognized as an out of the ordinary move as he keyed your car.

Is it just in the clearcoat, or did he go down to the primer?

2/3rds of it is down to the primer. I just went to town with Meguiars Ultimate Compound and got a 1/3rd of it to a small nick, but the rest of it is too deep.

I may as well just carefully mask off the area and touch up paint it until I can find a new fender or respray it. It won't be perfect, but at least it wont stand out. The white against black is such a hard contrast.

I saw it from 200 feet away when I was walking back to my car facing the passenger side and my heart dropped.
Makes me so sad

The thing that gets me is that this is a w124...chances are that they (or their parents) drive something that is worth much more money on the market. Too bad the MB hood star immediately has a stigma...someone tried to yank mine this weekend unsuccessfully, but the point I'm trying to make is that people are douchebags. I feel for the OP - what a crappy situation! Any chance that there is a security camera in the area?

Unfortunately not.

I have a feeling probably some drunken Halloween skumbags who were jealous. At least that would make me feel better knowing that it isn't somebody who has some sort of grudge against me and will do this again sometime soon....

It's a chick magnet. The guy's got serious Benz-envy that did this. I'd like to fracture the skull of someone like this if they could be caught in the act.

Power leads attached lower down may be more appropriate
