True dat, Mark!

Although I think the rancor will be stronger than ever regardless of election outcomes, at least we won't have to suffer through the ads anymore.

Well some of you may have read my definition of Unions.

I think we can reword that as Politics too.

What is Politics.
A business who's purpose is to keep the politicians, and their staff employed.
It has nothing to due with the people they are supposed to represent.

Election Day, the day we can walk up to our politicians, look 'em straight in the eye, and Spit!

Vote 'em ALL out of office!

I think we would be better off, by going to each congressional district and to each state and putting the names of all people in said area in a hat and draw one. Even if they all turned out to be homeless people off the street, they would make better reps and senators than what we've got!

it should be made more like jury duty. our justice system is based on people who didnt have a good enough excuse to get out of it, why not the legislature? make them keep their old job and the employer pay them the same salary, they get $4 per day from the govt. no one would worry about keeping the job and maybe we would get some fresh ideas and a more representative set of reps. best of all, no campaigns.

Hmm, a "draft/enscriptment" style of legislature instead of a voluntary one . . . sure, that'll work . . .

What you describe is probably closer to the original elected US government than what we have today. The people such as Washington went to the Capital because it was their duty and it cost them lots of money to do so. He and many others in that era, basically shut down their farming operations while they went and did their DUTY. It was NOT their career as it is today.

They should have a term limit, not to exceed two terms and a MODEST salary plus REASONABLE expenses, but unfortunately, the slime balls that would have to pass such a bill are the very scum bags that are getting fat and happy not doing so.

As it is, it doesn't even occur to the slime balls in Washington that they work for us instead of the other way around.

It would work better than the bunch of selfish crooks that are making fifty year careers out of it right now. If we drew names out of a hat, we would end up with more pragmatism than the bunch of socialist fat cats, setting on their you know whats in DC as we speak.

Hopefully by this time tomorrow a bunch of them will get an invitation to leave.

Such a superior form of governance, as you suggest, has worked . . . where? Other than perhaps episodes of Star Trek or "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" . . .

I didn't say it has worked, I'm saying we couldn't be any worse off. The bunch up there now, regardless of party, only care about themselves! Drawing names from a hat would give us a better chance.
