The President's Trip

No, this isn't a thread to whine about the cost, or anything else about this up-coming trip.
I understand about the need for security--please protect the President!!!
But if he needs 34 warships to accompany him, why go? Why put him in that sort of jeopardy?

Is there some compelling National Interest that requires this trip at this time? I do not want to believe that it is simple hubris.

What is the risk to the greater world peace if something were to happen?

I simply do not understand the why.

The Dear Leader is a complete narcissist megalomaniac who was only two days ago thoroughly rejected by the American electorate; in reality a rejection only eclipsed in magnitude only by the one his mother inflicted on him when she decided to separate from him leaving him in Hawaii and returning to her “work” in Indonesia. He won’t cry and you won’t even see his lip quiver, he’ll be brave and over-compensate that rejection asid;: instead, he'll now venture to another land where selected millions will swoon and fawn in his presence, and this is his therapy. You could see all this in his press conference yesterday, it wasn’t him that the voters rejected, it was the mis-prioritisation, the tactics and tone, the failure to accomplish more, etc. etc. but in no way did they reject little Barry. His administration and acolytes saw and knew this was coming months earlier, this way the narrative will be even though the stupid majority of American rubes have rejected him and what he stands for, the other more enlightened people of the world know better and now love him more than ever.

Scott Brown's 'tea party' fans feel burned by jobs vote

The new Massachusetts senator crosses the aisle to block a Republican filibuster on a $15-billion jobs bill. His supporters, who used the Internet to rally behind him, now turn on him.

February 23, 2010|By James Oliphant
Reporting from Washington — For Scott Brown, it appears that the "tea party" is over.
Literally overnight, the fledgling Republican senator who ended Democrats' filibuster-proof majority by winning a special election in Massachusetts has gone from being the darling of America's conservative activists to being their goat.

Relevance to the Dear Leader’s trip, or the only tired, worn, simplistic, trick this pony knows?

The '34 ships' are, according to The Navy Times, the third scheduled exercise between the South Korea navy and the US Navy. It was supposed to take place about two weeks ago but was postponed due to problems aboard the USS George Washington that needed to be corrected before it could join in.

The exercises are also supposed to be conducted in the South China Sea in an area claimed by China but not recognized by the rest of the world as China's to claim.

This info is easy to verify, but it will take you almost five minutes to do so.

I predicted when he was elected that he'd be a Democrat before his next election, looks like he's right on schedule......

Precisely why Romney won't ever be President, he screwed his own pooch on that! In the balance I'd still vote for him but this was a serious calculation gone seriously wrong for him. That's life!

Partisan carping aside, My original question regarding the safety of the President and the reason for this trip has not been addressed.

The ships are already scheduled for maneuvers, and Drudge has used dis-information techniques to suggest to you the falsehood that the ships were somehow commanded to be there by him to feed his supposed megalomania, which is the false image the propagandist wishes to convey, which you have apparently bought, and which is the current dis-information meme being carried 24/7 by the right wing Talk Radio Propaganda Ministry. Is that so hard? Ignorance is Strength, get stronger.

The real reasons for heighten security is the threat of the various Muslim terrorist organizations in India, one of which recently carried out an attack in Mombai, the prez's destination, that killed hundreds of people, in a brazen suicide attack right in the heart of the Indian capital. The president scheduled his trip to co-incide with the maneuvers because the terrorists attacked Mombai via the sea, and his security advisers wished him to schedule it during a time the Navy had forces in the area that could monitor sea approached via AWACS that would already be in the air during the exercises, and these planes can monitor even small watercraft to detect any unusual approach, and perhaps the president might escape terrorist assassination, something that won't bother the Tea Party Hate Machine, I'm sure, but which might bother other Americans greatly. The reason for the trip is that India is on its way to becoming a huge democratic economy, with whom's economy we are becoming increasingly intertwined. He wants them to buy more of our products, and we desperately need him to succeed.
