Need more minutes...
Talking to Verizon now to try to upgrade my plan...I'm willing to if they offer to upgrade my phone a few months early. I want to see what I can get out of them, threatening to switch to T Mobil when my contract expires.
Damn they are not being very helpful, annoying Verizon.

Verizon is the only carrier that I paid the fee to get away from! They re-upped my contract without making it clear that the contract was being extended. I thought I was just altering the minuet count. then a year later when I went to talk to them about getting a new phone they told me my contract was not up and that I signed a new contract only a year before..... so I was not eligible for a new phone because I some how changed my new phone schedule when I signed the new contract... My options were to pay full price for a phone $200 or pay $275 to dump the contract. I thought it was $75 well spent to get away from those crooks!!!!!

Consider a net10 phone. You can even transfer your current number and they use the same Verizon network. go to the net10 website, then buy a phone that comes with 300 minutes plus a card with 750 minutes. It will set you back $21 (seriously). You need to enter a couple of coupon codes when you check out. the first is '34567' then enter '44477' I've been doing this for years. it translates to about $6 per month. Take it from Mr. Frugal himself.

I use a few minutes though, I just upped to the 900 minute plan for this month since I was right at 450. After this billing cycle I'll go back to the 450 a month plan.
For the $20 its going to cost me that's a lot cheaper than paying overage charges. I didn't want to extend my plan because when it expires I'm going to get two phones and charge them to my company, so I won't have to pay for it anymore.

Do what I do, buy your phones on ebay and go month to month.
They'll hound you like a dog to upgrade, but when I get phone calls from their salespeople I just hang up without so much as a goodbye.

The phones offered by AT&T (my carrier) that do not have wireless/data plan are severely limited it's almost forcing me to get the data plan (smart phones) which I don't really need. Then there's this limited data plan thing that changed a few months back from unlimited users (my wife got through) so if you go over that you have to pay more.
I had Nokia phones a lot and would still want one. Reliable and user-friendly. Only thing is since my phone right now (Nokia 6300) is not "offered" by AT&T (got it overseas, unlocked) I don't have phone reception inside my office building.

Ehhh, I am happy with my ATT.
I get a fairly hefty monthly discount with my employer, and thats enough to make me stay.

Folks who have minimal or no data needs, can get a far better deal than Verizon - while still using the typically better Verizon network and keeping their Verizon phones.
PagePlus Cellular is a reseller that uses the Verizon network - $45/month for unlimited talk/text, $30/month for 1200 minutes/1200 text. No additional fees or taxes, prepaid with no contracts. Simply port your number over when your Verizon contract is up , and start saving. |

been with Verizon or their acquired predecessor since 1996... Verizon has never cut me any slack on upgrade or contracts. I spend over $250/month with them now and have spent multiples of that per month in years past... but still i stay.
good luck.

I have been happy with the price of tmobile. under $100 for unlimited minutes, unlimited web and blackberry, and 1000 text messages.
Service is spotty when in the middle of nowhere though.

Tell Verizon to stick it where their Bank don't shine...
AND still use their network at reasonable prices.
http://www.straighttalk.com/ 'Only thing I don't like is they do not offer any Motorola equipment. (And they're not discounting the 'Phones, Much) (Hint: when you "Shop for 'Phones" on their website make sure you do your due diligence and investigate the 'Phone model's "Reviews" out ont the W.W.W.) $45.P Mo for a Crackberry style Nokia and Unlimited Talk, Text and Data.
