Pope modifies condom rules

Not sure I heard the report exactly right or not but I'm pretty sure it said that the Pope modified the rules against condom use, allowing priests with AIDS to use condoms when having sex with an altar boy.

I think this thread is pushing things a bit. I would click that little triangle, but then get yelled at.

LOL.

Failure to comply will result in an immediate transfer to a new parish.

I think I need to go with Diderot's quote involving kings, priests, and entrails.

Why, it's just another example of the "tolerance" of the left, just show's the overwhelming compassion and sensitivity they have for the many documented victims of homosexual rape perpetrated by people who have historically been themselves victims of intolerance and bias!

One can only imagine if someone on the right had made a joke of say Matthew Sheppard getting what he deserved, or inferred that the widespread homosexual pederast interaction between leaders and followers was institutionalized within the "Religion of Peace and Love" such as Afghanistan’s "Bache Basi" boys! Or that HIV/AIDS, or Sickle Cell Anemia, child abuse and neglect, spousal abuse where equally subjects of casual humor!

The very same people would be gnashing their teeth and wringing their hands and incessantly proclaiming that it was disrespect, smearing, hatred of people who where different and any disagreement with that opinion was evidence of intellectual inferiority!

It is interesting to note that the very same people are always quick to excuse Clinton’s prurient intentions and actions, while faithfully ignoring the extreme power imbalance of his and Monica’s relationship!

It’s better to allow such posts in order to expose such rank hypocrisy, just in case anybody had any delusions of the oft claimed moral superiority of the left.

It is rather interesting to postulate if someone like would feel equally comfortable making equal light of this subject or any of the similar subjects I've mentioned in the faculty lounge, around the water cooler, in the hallways of of say any publicly funded community college where someone is employed by taxpayers including many Catholics? I'll bet Ward Churchill would defend such a persons right to do so!

Wasn't the Catholic Church's position that the means of artificial contraception was prohibited, rather than the use condoms for any reason by any Catholic? Was condom use ever actually prohibited for male homosexual sex?

I do not know a great deal about the catholic church or the pope but everything I have read seems to indicate that the church as with most religions seems to deal in absolutes. Murder is bad... period. Adultery is bad... period. Premarital sex is bad ... period.

I do not ever recall the pope saying something is bad, BUT is this case it is better than the alternative. As far as I can remember, condoms have always been a no-no in the catholic church. Now they are OK for prostitutes to prevent the spread of HIV? That seems like it would be a huge slippery slope for the pope to get on. Seems like he is saying that hey, I do not agree with prostitution or condoms but if you are going to sell your self for sex at least cover up before you go play.

I agree with the end result but I do not see how he can get away with saying that and holding absolute on so many other issues.

Here is the real decision for those interested (sorry Kerry, did not mean to steal your humor).

Pope ruling on Condoms

Someone's been pressing that button. I didn't even realize he was a member here and would take umbrage. Must be the whole G-Wagon popemobile thingy that brought him here.
