A $500,000 Honda?

Seriosuly? I knew this car was out there but I never seen the price tag on this ever until now. And for the first time in my life. I am sticker shock!!!

TOKYO — Honda is successfully campaigning its NSX coupe(Acura NSX in the U.S.) at the GT championship in Japan. Now it is translating the victories to street cred with the introduction of a special-edition model based on the GT racer. The NSX-R GT is guaranteed to be exclusive: Only five will be built and each will cost a cool half-million.

Technically, there's not much difference from the normal NSX-R; it's powered by the same 280-horsepower, 3.2-liter V6. However, there are a few carbon-fiber parts, which guarantees better handling and makes the car look like a Transformer: a huge air intake behind the rear window in 1970s racer style, a front apron and an underbody diffuser.

Order lines are open until March 22; the car will be built in August.

What this means to you: Living in the U.S., we dream from a distance. Living in Japan, dreams can come true.

I would be fine with a 500K Honda if it competed well with other cars in the 500K range. Honda builds great sports car, although they have discontinued them all... hm.

Wtf? Get with the times Honda, build a new freakin' car, maybe with more balls than a V6 Camry. Definitely made for NSX fanboys I can certainly appreciate its 90's looks.

Agreed. There newer stuff is rubbish I think. Honda IMO has only made a couple good cars. The NSX, RSX, Prelude. ummm Well the S2000 but its gay looking. Still a good little car. Now they make rubbish. All crap. They need bring back the NSX. Instead of 280bhp. Make it like 400bhp. Redesign it a little bit and price it at around the $70,000 range and boom.

Sports cars are usually built by the majors to drive traffic to the showrooms so they can sell you a sedan. I remember going to a Ford dealer in Dallas in 1967 to look at a 427 AC Cobra they had for sale for only $7,500. That was with no air and no anything else, either. A loaded Falcon would go for about $3,200.

A salesman there was an old friend of my Father's and the salesman told me it was the best sales gimmick they had ever come up with. He was very blunt about how you can not sell someone a car if they do not come into the showroom and the Cobra was really pulling people in.

It could be that Honda is selling all the cars it can deal with now and they do not need the extra draw of a sports car.

I thought they discontinued the NSX, Top Gear's website had a big thing on it at one point. I really liked those cars but I'm a bit of a sucker for the early 90's jap sports cars

The news is slightly old. The NSX-R (GT) has come and gone.

Its a older car. Not many of these out there and I knew the car existed but I was shocked when I ran across the price tag.

Well the base price of the base NSX had peopling ROFLMMFAO... hence why they quit making it. They didn't change the car in 12 years and were asking nearly $130,000 in the final year. For a car with a 3.2L 320HP V6.
