Mom killed in shoot out at Sacramento mall

It's the holiday season which means the crazies are out and about. I think this serves as a warning to be very aware of one's surroundings. Also, in my experience many of America's malls seem to be attracting more and more criminal/gang types.

As one friend of mine said: The malls may not have many shoppers, but they sure seem to attract a lot of SHOP LIFTERS.

The little mall security car with the flashing lights on the top doesn't seem to be discouraging the bad guys either.

Condolences to this innocent mother's family and the two year old who just lost his mother. sad.

That's terrible.

All of the people in the BARBER SHOP were armed? Drug related perhaps?

I'm guessing it wasn't in the better part of town. Mall is kind of misleading. It was an outdoor strip mall.

There were bullets found in cars and a store across the street 200 feet away. Who's more dangerous the theives or the "barbers"?

On the History Channel's show, "Gangland", they have shown many instances where innocent bystanders have been gunned down due to sprayin' and prayin'. It is as if the country has been taken over by gangs. I've spoken with many people who have shared that they are 'scared' of the gangs and that 'something must be done' though they seem to be short on suggestions on what, exactly, should be done.

The actual solution is somewhat easy: have para military police groups, id, hunt down and eliminate the gangs, sort of like they did to the bad guys in the west or even Bonnie & Clyde. Actual constitutional legality and practical application in acountry where a large number of people dont even support the death penalty makes it highly unlikely.

However, if we dont grow some balls, collectively, then the gangs are going to really disrupt the legal activity of this country far worse than they do now. The first battles of this war are being fought in Mexico and Guatemala right now. The massive gang problem there is a look into our future if we don't do something.

The ATF and DEA could really do something good for this country by tackling this, instead of killing women and children belonging to a nutball church or isolationist movement, but I don't see that happening.

The gangs have such a lock on many towns and cities, I'm unsure that anything or anyone is going to stop them now. It would take a very dedicated effort to deal with them. After watching "Gangland" on the History Channel, I'm convinced that some of them are very committed to what they do. My advice is to be aware of who and what is around you at all times, park in well lit parking lots, etc. carry a cell phone and travel in pairs.

One could lobby for limited term martial law. Clean up the mess quickly and then reinstate the liberties and freedoms that our forefathers and veterans have worked so hard for. An extreme measure to take, and I'm not willing to give up liberty for safety, but occurances like this are truly unacceptable in what should be considered a civilized society.

Personally, I have no plan for a solution either.

...or you could just enforce existing laws.
