New Cadillac's...

I have been saying for the past few years that Caddy was catching up to the Germans and in a few years would be on par. Well 2011 is here and IMHO they are. As an American I am very happy that for once we have cars that can keep up with the Europeans and the era of shabby quality and plastic fantastic interiors is over! GM is back! Cadillac is back!

Having seen the W212 which IMHO is a nice car, if I was cross shopping a new middle of the range performance sedan I would give the new CTS V's a very serious look. Not only do they have more HP than the AMG cars, they have manual transmissions and you can get them in wagons and coupes!

Nice looking cars, and every bit as well built and engineered as the Germans.

I'm not wild about the styling, but I'm sure they are nice cars. I hope my wife doesn't decide she wants one at some point, because I would rather own a benz.

What, you're saying the Caddillac Catera / Vauxhall Omega was of shabby quality? Ridiculous! I do like the new CTSes, one of the few American cars I'd buy. Ford has really gotten their act together recently as well.

I am impressed with them too. Have been since the Gen 2 CTS cars. I have to say that yellow and black interior is really puke-worthy to me though. I think I'd rather have a Pontiac G8. Wonder if they are cheap nowadays.

They certainly are fast now, and the stick is a plus.

I have to wonder about the quality and longivity.

I am not too attracted to the styling either.

Many new models look great these days. If you do a revisit in say 5 years it will show how good they are.

I love those CTS-Vs. I was seriously considering one of those before I bought my CLS. The track tests I've read about showed tham competing very well against Benzes and Beemers.

I used to be a GM guy. No more. I will only buy a GM or Chrysler if that is all that I have to choose from. I will get a Ford before I buy any of those things.

I am not crazy about the looks. Its fast and can handle good for sure. But you know that the new CTS-V was developed by Europe? lol So as far as them catching up to the Europeans well they needed them to catch them lol. As far as the plastic Caddy era over. ehhh its more like beginning. My brother has been a Cadillac owner for many years and evey time my father gives him money for a new he goes out and finds a low miles one from the 80's or 90's. He says I refuse to touch anything newer then 2000 era. Except a new CTS-V of course. The quality of the 90's 80's are far better on the interior then the new ones. The only reason the CTS-V has a good interior is because well. Its a $80,000 luxury car and it was devloped by the Europeans. Lets not forget about the bailout as well But with that being said. I would buy the new CTS-V. Its a very good car even thoue I dont care for its looks.

I think the Buicks look better, IMO.

A German made Regal GS turbo would be my first choice for a new car right now.

Now this is funny
The car is sold in Europe since 2009 as Opel/Vauxhall
As always the US market is few years behind....

I don't think that we will see the diesel version here any time soon
