Dealer deceiving people with their ads....

Local dealer is advertising a '92 Toyota Landcruiser for sale - the pics they've posted are those of the '94 model they already sold some time ago.

I was curious about that vehicle which looked clean in the photos - when I got to the lot the actual vehicle was a pile of junk with knobby tires - the looked pretty well worn out.

I told the guy he just wasted my time - he said that he must have made a mistake with his photos. I was pretty pissed off and left.

Today I noticed that although they've changed the ad they continue to deceive people with the same trick - right car, wrong photo...

I wrote them an email telling them to get their act straight - doubt that it will make a dent in their conscience.

Can I report them somewhere for using these dirty tricks to deceive people and waste their time?! I'm pretty upset at them right now...

Here is the stuipd ad:

Damn scam artists piss me off but this was a dealer? That's just low.

Back when Hatties friend was looking for a G I would search all the usual sights and we noticed one 02 model on ebay that apparently sold quick. A few weeks later it was listed on auto trader using the same pics and for a great price. The phone number listed didn't connect to anything so I tried emailing the seller. Here is the response that I got a few days later.

Hello ______,
Sorry for the late response; something came up and I had to leave urgently on a business trip. Anyway I wanted to let you know that the car is still available.
I am selling it for
$12,700.The 2003 Mercedes-Benz G500 has 109.080 miles and looks like new; it has never been scratched or wrecked. The car is in great condition inside, outside and mechanically. It will come with a clear title, bill of sale signed by me as well and all the papers (including the original manuals and keys) that you will need to register it under your name.
I want to sell it because I don't have much use for and I could use some quick cash right now, rather than waiting for a better offer (selling takes a lot of time too...). So I'm willing to let it go for $12,700 and since I only have one, First come, First served.
Because I am not home and giving the nature of this transaction we can escrow the payment with Google Checkout. They will allow you to inspect the car for 3 days before you actually buy it. In this way you're not buying something sight unseen. Shipping is already paid, because I recently moved from Allen, TX to Tolland, CT and before leaving I have made arrangements to ship the car here to me in Tolland. Now that I am selling it there is no point in shipping it here anymore. The shipping company will not refund me in full but offered to ship the car anywhere within continental US, so I've left it at their warehouse and it's ready to be shipped anytime. Also, Google Checkout purchase protection guarantees that the car is exactly as I described; basically, once delivered, you'll have 3 days to inspect it at your home and if you decide not to keep it you will get refunded in no time and they will charge me with the return costs.

If you agree with these terms, please email me your shipping name and address so I can start the process with Google Checkout and I will also get back to you with more details on how the escrow process works. I have more photos with the car hosted on the internet at the following link:
http://photo-sharing.winsoftmagic.com/1/1086rdk3.htm .
I look forward to hear from you if you are interested in the car and do not hesitate to ask any questions you have about the car or if you simply want me to get back to you with more details on the Google Checkout deal. Thanks
Cristiano Ricci

100% Scam if i've ever seen one....

Not much you can do, when they get too hot with bad deal history they close up and change the business name. They keep all assets seperate so even if you sued they have nothing to recover. Best thing is stick to the bigger dealers who want to protect their name

What exactly does 'flagging' do?! I've flagged a number of OBVIOUS scams on Craigslist recently and they don't get removed... I keep seeing them in the same exact spot.

Flag it. If enough people do too, the ad comes down. I clicked on the link and flagged it; if a few more folks do, too, it will disappear.

Looks like their website is wrong, too. Maybe the fellow who posts to CL uses the web site's pics and made an honest mistake... and their website guy is the one being misleading. In any case, once you pointed it out, they should have fixed it.
