Nice watch Hattie! Like the color and band.
I was going to buy myself a nice watch as a bit of a milestone thingy, had some cash saved, perhaps an Omega or Panerai (sp?). A friend of mine collects nice watches and was helping me out. Then I decided to buy the E550, so the cash went to that and I bought this Seiko on sale for $150. I figure I can test the accuracy of the tachymeter with the E550.

I am sold on automatics (or mechanical watches, in general). I still have one quartz watch -- an MWC military -- that I use while working outside and such. Otherwise, I have a number of Seiko automatics that I LOVE, and a couple of old Russian mechanical dive watches. In fact, I just ordered an automatic winder to keep the ones I'm not wearing ticking.
There are some really nifty automatics out there for well under $100 now. Most are Chinese movements, but the couple I have owned have kept great time and are fun watches. If you want to waste an afternoon, start perusing the for sale forums at Poor Man's Watch Forum (http://www.pmwf.com/Phorum/list.php?50).
